In this course we will discuss Electronic Signatures, the systems capabilities to request electronic signatures, E-signing
documents, searching for documents based on their signature status and settings & security associated with this module. This course should take approximately 20 minutes
to complete and will be done using a test system with fake charts.
E-signing is the ability to electronically sign stored documents like encounters, orders, forms, images, and exam result documentation. Doing so confirms that the document
has been reviewed and verified by the provider and helps to facilitate communication and workflow efficiency within the clinic. These HIPAA-compliant electronic signatures will
consist of a name, date, and timestamp and is not to be confused with a scanned in image of a signature on a document.
How you use the e-sign functionality will depend on your clinics desired workflows. For example, you may have a clinician scan lab result documentation and then
request a provider’s signature once those documents have been reviewed and verified OR the provider could create and sign documents without a request in the system at
all.
